Why Juice?

Fresh juice made and consumed immediately is alive with enzymes, phyto-nutrients, vitamins and minerals.  Raw fresh juice is filled with many health promoting compounds that scientists are just beginning to learn about. These health promoting compounds will increase your resistance to disease by supporting your immune system. A regular supply of fresh pressed juice can help your body detox and benefit from a high concentration of nutrients. The nutrients in juice do not need to be chewed and digested. This allows the high concentration of active enzymes to be immediately ready for absorption.

Here are a few more reasons to juice:

  1. It is impossible to eat in solid form what one can juice and drink. Solid food has to be digested over many hours before the nourishment becomes available to the cells and tissues of the body.
  2. Fruit and vegetable juices only take a matter of minutes to be digested with MINIMUM effort and exertion of the digestive tract.
  3. Many fruits and vegetables are around 90% water and nutrients in solution. The remaining 10% is made up of solids, fibrous and cell wall materials.
  4. Contained within the gaps of the fibers, are the desired atoms and molecules in solution. The grind and press type juicer is critical because it is able to break up all the cell walls, completely allowing all the water and nutrients to separate themselves from the solids.

Please keep in mind, the Vitamix Blender and other “powerful” blenders are NOT juicers.

What’s the difference?

There are many different brands of juicers available for purchase. Not only is there a variation in price, but in the quality and amount of juice rendered. The grind and press method is the ONLY method acceptable for treating a serious illness.

Centrifugal Juicer- This is the most common and inexpensive type available. Uses a grater to break apart the plant fibers and cell walls and then spin out the juice by centrifugal action, forcing the pulp against a high speed revolving basket according to Dr. Max Gerson.

For example here is a comparison of juicers and the contents rendered:

CARROTS

A” is for acme, a leading type of centrifugal juicer
C” represents the champion, a grater, masticator, homogenizing juicer
N” stands for the Norwalk, a single unit containing the grinder and press together

                                                      A            C              N
Juice Extracted-oz               40           40           57
Mineral Contents - - - - -
Calcium                                     501         1458      2708
Magnesium                              1               5             22
Phosphorus                             20           70          285
Iron                                            10           10           37
Potassium                                8              16           31

This comparative study of the operation and efficiency of each machine was performed using a uniform 5 lbs of carrots for each machine. It was performed by Leroy J Bailey, a chemist specializing in chemical microscopy, mineralogy, and petrography.

Carrots are the most popular vegetable to juice because of a high concentration of antioxidants and its ability to blend well with most other fruits and vegetables.
