Refresh with Herbal Teas

Break your morning coffee habit with this delicious tea. It is chock full of vitamins and minerals to get you started on the right foot.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon (30ml) roasted, chopped chicory roots
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) raspberry leaves
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) chopped dandelion root
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) dried apples, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) German chamomile flowers
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) nettle leaves
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) alfalfa grass
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) oat straw
- 2 tablespoon(10ml) dried cranberries
- 1 teaspoon(5ml) rose hips
- 1 teaspoon(5ml) cinnamon bark
- 1/2 teaspoon(2ml) crushed or powdered nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon(2ml) stevia leaves (sweet herb)
Combine all ingredients.
Pour 1 cup (230ml) of boiling water over 1 to 2 teaspoons (5 to 10 ml) of dried herb combination. Allow to steep at least 10 minutes, then strain.
Add honey if desired.
For stronger brew, bring 4 cups of water to boil. Reduce heat to barely a simmer and add 1 and half tablespoon(22ml) of dried herb combination.
Allow to steep for 20 minutes, then strain.
You can store the remaining mixture in an airtight plastic bag or a dark glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Store in a cool, dry, dark place.
Yields:20 to 28 cups
There is another tea rich in vitamin C, which you will fall in love with. I drink this tea in whole winter to help keep colds and flu at bay. The rose hips are extremely high in vitamin C and bioflavonoids and are quite tart and refreshing.
Vitamin C Tea
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) rose hips
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) dried raspberries or raspbery leaves
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) chopped dandelion root
- 1 tablespoon(15ml) dried strawberries or strawberry leaves
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cinnamon bark chips
- half a teaspoon ginger root
- 1/2 teaspoon(2ml) stevia leaves (sweet herb)
Combine all ingredients.
